Essential Billy Squier is another compilation released by Capitol without Billy's input. He actually wanted them to include a couple of his new songs (currently only available for purchase as downloads at our website store), but they declined. The only compilation Billy himself has done is the 2 cd anthology Reach For The Sky, released on Polygram in 1996. New Releases:

A Blues Show:

Following in the footsteps of the 2 Boston shows with James Montgomery and James Cotton and the NYC Blues Summit with James Cotton, Billy is playing 2 shows at Iridium in NYC on 11/15. The shows are part of Les Paul Mondays-as Billy says "This is the joint Les Paul played at every Monday for many years up until his passing in 09. I'm doing a blues night, which is called "Blues Deluxe": songs that influenced me growing up as a kid, along with a couple from my catalog that lend themselves to the blues vernacular. I'll have The Uptown Horns on hand, with Jeff Golub opening...and perhaps a few surprise guests as well"

A Christmas Cover:

Katharine McPhee's Christmas album "Christmas Is The Time To Say I Love You" was released 10/12. The album is mostly traditional favorites-she says she chose to cover Billy because this was one of her personal favorites. Billy's version of the song will be available for purchase as a download through the site after Thanksgiving.

Billy's publisher is still working on getting Billy ringtones available-stay tuned.

Below is a comment and photo from a long time fan of Billy's who is also part of our family.....

This past July Billy Squier and his wife Nicole visited while in town for his show in Boston Ma. with friend James Montgomery. The day prior I had the chance to Jam Everybody Wants You and Lonely is the Night with Billy. As some of you know I am Bobby Chouinard's nephew, Billy's original drummer. Playing these songs with Billy on Bobby's drums was a dream come true.

I hope everyone enjoys the pictures as much as I do. As Bobby would say, "keep strokin'" and I hope everyone has a great day. Roger Chouinard Jr.

Legendary blues harmonica player JAMES COTTON has asked Billy to sit in with him at his Blues Summit concert at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater on June 24th. The two recently met at the May 21-22 Boston Legends shows put together by James Montgomery, and got on so well that Cotton rang Billy a few days later to invite him to the New York event. Other guests include Taj Mahal and Pine Top Perkins, along with reigning blues diva, Shemekia Copeland. Billy says he is "truly honored to be able to play in the company of such extraordinary talents and get down to what I enjoy the most...playing guitar..." about Cotton,"Aside from his pedigree and talent, the man's simply a lot of fun to play with." Don't miss this show if you're in the NYC area!

June 24, 2010, 8PM, Rose Theater

Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2006, the Smithsonian Institute in 1991, and winner of countless W.C. Handy Blues Awards, James Cotton will perform with an all-star line-up of contemporary blues giants including legendary Blues men Pinetop Perkins and Taj Mahal. In two distinct sets, one electric and the other unplugged, Cotton will also be joined by vocalist Shemekia Copeland, daughter of the late great Johnny Copeland, the guitarist and Howlin' Wolf alumnus Hubert Sumlin, plus Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Darrell Nulisch, David Maxwell, and others.

REMEMBER-unless you receive an email from us and see the gig listed on our website, assume it is a bogus gig. Billy is not touring at this time, so any Billy Squier dates you see elsewhere are someone faking being Billy's agent and scamming club owners. He has hit 4 clubs already: in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Louisiana and New York. Again, if you see any dates that are not on our website, please email judy ASAP so that we can warn off the club owners.

Check out the Billy Squier chapter in Kristofer Engelhart's 2010 "Beatles-Deeper Undercover." It is a greatly revised and updated edition of his 1998 book Beatles Undercover. At nearly 400 pages, it painstakingly chronicles The Beatles' contributions to the work of other artists. Each outside artist's entry contains a short biography, personal thoughts and memories where possible, and thorough details concerning the exact contribution that John, Paul, George, or Ringo added to their work. Since the original Beatles Undercover, much has been updated and added-without a doubt this is the definitive book on this subject. Available at

As of now, plans for a possible summer/fall tour have been suspended, but  Billy will be playing a couple NE gigs with James Montgomery. Both are special tributes to James Cotton. In addition to Cotton, the James Montgomery Band will be joined by Magic Dick of J Geils, The Fools, David Hull of the Joe Perry Project, Jon Butcher of Jon Butcher Axis, Michael Carabello of Santana, Sib Hashian (formerly of Boston) and the Uptown Horns. Friday 5/21 is at the Lynne Auditorium in Lynn, MA and Sat 5/22 is at the Capitol Theater for the Arts in Concord, NH.  Please note it is unlikely that Billy will be performing any of his own songs at these shows.

Billy's publisher reports:

Shout Factory will be re-issuing "Don't Say No" in July. The cd will include two live tracks from the 2009 tour ("My Kinda Lover" and "The Stroke") Read the liner notes on the website's front page.

Some of you were worried when you got spam that included Billy Squier in the address (, etc). We do NOT sell or allow anyone the use of our mailing list. The mailing list was in no way compromised. There was a temporary problem with the website itself, but that has been rectified. During that time, we did not receive all incoming emails, so if you did not get a response, please email us again at

We got 2 people who were pretending to be Billy kicked off Facebook. As we have said before, Billy does not want to use Facebook. I have set up a Billy Squier page on Facebook that will be an additional link to the website info, but the page is not public yet.

Below is Billy's letter to the fans. Happy HolidaZe and a safe New Year! Judy

Thanks to all of you who got out to a show—in some cases more than one (the record, I believe, was 10!)—and apologies to those of you who lived in areas we didn't get to. In many respects, I feel this was the best tour I've ever done. Selecting songs from an historical perspective gave me a chance to consolidate the music I've made over the last 30+ years and experience the individual efforts as a unified body of work. Not having anything to "sell"—be it a new release or image—gave me a lot more freedom to do the things I like to do best: play more guitar...jam with the band, etc. In many ways this felt very similar to the days back in school when we'd play down in the basement until our parents pulled the plug. I also felt particularly close to you—the audience. I purposely chose to avoid playing as part of a "package," because I wanted to present a show for those of you who've maintained a long-range interest in my musical endeavors, and would accept me wandering off at times to explore lesser known or more esoteric titles. I felt that every night had the potential for something new to be the best show of my life. Thank you for being a part of that.

Maybe next year...?

Merry Christmas,

December 08

Hi All,

It's been a busy and productive musical year for me. The Ringo tour was GREAT – by many accounts, even better than 06. In some respects, it felt like we were becoming more of a BAND, in that Hamish, Edgar and I were making the rounds together for a second time…along with The Boss, of course. That said, the 'New Boys' worked out quite well, and everybody had a good time. I got to play bass on "Pick Up The Pieces," which was something of a professional first. I also premiered yet another new version of "The Stroke," some of which will appear in the upcoming VH1 special, "The Top 100 Hard Rock Songs Of All Time."

Determined not to let the music slip off into the garden, I wrote two songs immediately following the tour, and have just finished recording them with a new creative accomplice, Mitchell Davis. You may not have heard of Mitch, but you've heard his music – his band, OrbraSquara, did the music for the big iPhone TV spots last year. He's an extremely gifted songwriter, singer, and producer, who also plays a variety of quirky instruments that make some unique contributions to the recordings. BTW, the first ObraSquara CD is commercially available, and a second is coming early in 09. Mitch Corralled me into guesting on two of his new songs, "The Trouble With Flying" (which looks to be the title of the CD as well) and "Tell Me." We've established a great working relationship that I hope will continue for a long time. More recording's scheduled for the first of the year.

All This is pointing me in the direction of a full-blown BILLY TOUR, scheduled to begin in late June. If all goes according to plan, Mark, Alan and I will be joined by a couple of new faces for a musical journey through the entire catalog, from Piper to "Happy Blue" and beyond…should be quite an adventure. Naturally, I hope to see you all there!

Happy holidays, and remember, "Christmas Is The Time To Say 'I Love You'."

ps – feel free to send in any ideas for songs you'd particularly like to hear on the tour…no guarantees, but I'd appreciate your input.
